Who is the Greatest Indian after Mahatma Gandhi is a poll launched by History TV18 and CNN IBN. The format of this poll is based on BBC’s The Greatest Briton launched in year 2002. Winston Churchill was voted the greatest Briton ever with 456,498 votes.

The CNN IBN team first shortlisted a list of 100 nominees on the basis of Impact, Influence, Iconic and Inspirational. The next tier of process is to select 50 from the list of 100 and that work was done by 26 Jury members.
The process is now divided into two phases.
Phase I (4th June 2012 – 25th June 2012): The viewers and readers will also be involved for the process of shortlisting 10 Greats from 50 nominees. The selection of 10 Greats will a combined voting process by Nationwide Citizen Vote, Jury Selection and a Nationwide Survey Conducted by The Nielsen Company. You can vote online at www.historyindia.com/TGI/
Phase II (1st July 2012 – 1st August 2012): The race will continue with the 10 Greats who got the maximum number of votes in Phase I. The combined voting will take place again and The Great who will receive maximum number of votes in this Phase will be named The Greatest Indian after Mahatma Gandhi.
Today is 24th of June and only one day is left for Phase I voting process. I would request every Indian to vote for The Greatest Indian. The Greatest Indian will be announced on 15th of August 2012.
