Disqus has revamped their commenting platform from scratch. The new commenting platform has deep social integration. The Interface is much cleaner this time as compared to the previous version. There are many other good features included in the update.
Real Time comment system has been implemented in the update which means that users don’t have to refresh the page all the time to just get the comments updated. The comments can be shared on Facebook and Twitter. You can tag people from Twitter using @mentions. Users can also vote on comments. Read more about Disqus 2012 on their Official Blog.
People who are using Disqus commenting platform on their blog or website can upgrade to Disqus 2012. Disqus has not applied the update automatically because they kept the old version of their commenting platform as the alternate option.
How to Upgrade to Disqus 2012
- Login to Disqus Admin Panel
- After Login you will end up in the Basic Settings section.
- You just need to check “Enable Disqus 2012 Features for your site”
- Save Changes and you are good to go.
You can always go back to the previous version by going to the Basic Settings and then uncheck “Enable Disqus 2012 Features for your site”
Note : The method given above worked perfectly on self hosted WordPress blogs. Not sure about other Content Management Systems.
